Establishes the Retired Law Enforcement K-9 Health Care Fund, administered by the Department of Public Safety, to reimburse veterinary costs for retired state law enforcement canines

Limits reimbursement to $5,000 per canine for its lifetime, covering routine preventive care, illness/injury treatment, medications, and surgical procedures

Eligible canines must have served at least 5 years in active law enforcement duty, or less than 5 years if medically retired with veterinarian diagnosis and agency head approval

Applicants (handlers or adopters) must reside in Maine and submit applications with veterinary diagnosis and proof of expenses

Fund sources include legislative appropriations, private donations and grants, and allocated fines/fees; agency heads may provide unlimited additional reimbursement from their own agency budgets at their discretion
