Department of Corrections must convene a working group to study alternative methods for operating county jails in Maine

Working group consists of 10 members: the Commissioner of Corrections (chair) plus 9 members representing the Lincoln and Sagadahoc Multicounty Jail Authority, county commissioners, sheriffs, and municipalities

Working group must review the history of the former State Board of Corrections (established 2007, repealed 2015) and examine unified state-county jail systems and management models in other states

Historical jail regionalization efforts in Maine must be reviewed, including best methods and funding strategies for counties interested in regionalization

Report with findings, recommendations, and suggested legislation due to the Legislature by December 1, 2027
