Removes the automatic presumption that bar applicants convicted of crimes punishable by one year or more imprisonment lack "good moral character"

Eliminates the previous requirement that applicants with such convictions prove rehabilitation through pardon, extraordinary circumstances, or passage of time with evidence of complete rehabilitation

Retains the Board of Bar Examiners and Supreme Judicial Court's authority to consider criminal convictions when evaluating applicants on a case-by-case basis

Amends 4 MRSA §805-A governing bar admission requirements in Maine

Became law without the Governor's signature on June 8, 2025 as Public Law Chapter 182
