MI HB4101

Limits driver responsibility fee assessments to one year (through December 31, 2011) instead of two consecutive years for violations under subsection (2) of MCL 257.732a.

Reduces the annual fee from $1,000 to apply for only one year for serious violations including manslaughter, felonies involving motor vehicles, certain DUI offenses, and hit-and-run violations.

Reduces the annual fee from $500 to apply for only one year for violations including certain DUI offenses, driving without insurance, and reckless driving.

Eliminates the annual collection requirement for driver responsibility fees, removing language requiring fees to be collected once each year that point totals reach 7 or more.

Enactment is contingent upon passage of House Bills 4098, 4604, and 5603 in the 95th Legislature.
