Applicants seeking licensure in multiple work classifications under the mechanical contractors act only pay one examination fee and one initial issuance fee instead of separate fees for each classification.

Establishes eight work classifications for contractor licensing: hydronic heating and cooling, HVAC equipment, ductwork, refrigeration, limited service heating/refrigeration, unlimited service heating/refrigeration, fire suppression, and specialty work.

Authorizes the department to investigate licensee activities and requires the board to conduct hearings before imposing sanctions including suspension, denial, revocation of licenses, or restitution requirements.

Expands grounds for board action to include violations of the asbestos abatement contractors licensing act, with the department able to suspend or revoke licenses for knowing violations upon notice from the public health department.

Effective immediately upon enactment, contingent on House Bill No. 5830 of the 95th Legislature also being enacted into law.
