MI HB6429

Amends the Michigan Code of Criminal Procedure (1927 PA 175) to add eight felonies related to embryo, fetus, and reproductive health research to the sentencing guidelines in Chapter XVII.

Establishes sentencing classifications for violations including: use of live human embryos for nontherapeutic research (MCL 333.2685), research on dead embryos without consent (333.2688), abortion to obtain embryos (333.2689), and sale of fetal material (333.2690), all classified as Class E felonies with 5-year maximum sentences.

Adds four additional health-related felonies to sentencing guidelines: unauthorized disclosure of social security numbers (Class F, 4 years), disclosure of confidential abortion information (Class G, 3 years), violation of fetal remains disposition requirements (Class F, 3 years), and AIDS-related sexual assault without disclosure (Class F, 4 years).

Includes fraud resulting in patient death (MCL 333.5661) as a Class F felony with 4-year maximum sentence.

Bill does not take effect unless Senate Bill No. ____ or House Bill No. 6428 is enacted into law (tie-bar provision).
