Expresses support for active transportation infrastructure that promotes walking and bicycling to improve public health, reduce pollution, and reduce childhood obesity rates.

Notes that only 1 in 10 children currently walk or bike to school compared to half of all children in 1969, and that more than a quarter of children and adolescents are overweight or obese.

Urges the Michigan Department of Transportation to work with counties and local communities to expand active transportation options across the state.

Urges county and local road agencies to incorporate Complete Streets, Context Sensitive Solutions, and Safe Routes to School principles when constructing or reconstructing transportation facilities.

Directs transmission of the resolution to the Michigan Department of Transportation.
