Urges the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence River Basin Water Resources Council to carefully scrutinize Waukesha, Wisconsin's proposed diversion of 18.5 million gallons per day from Lake Michigan.

Expresses concern that Waukesha's proposal may not meet compact standards requiring that communities demonstrate significant water conservation measures and that the diversion be minimized to the greatest extent possible.

Notes the Waukesha decision will set precedent for future water diversion approvals under the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence River Basin Water Resources Compact.

Urges other Great Lakes states to adopt management measures for water withdrawals consistent with Michigan's process to ensure proposed withdrawals are reviewed based on sound science.

Directs copies of the resolution to be transmitted to the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence River Basin Water Resources Council, the Governor's Office, and the Office of the Great Lakes.
