Expresses support for active transportation infrastructure that promotes walking and bicycling to increase physical activity, reduce traffic, and improve public health.

Notes that more than a quarter of children and adolescents are overweight or obese, and that only about one in 10 children currently walk or bike to school compared to half in 1969.

Urges the Michigan Department of Transportation to work with counties and local communities to expand active transportation options across the state.

Encourages county and local road agencies to incorporate Complete Streets, Context Sensitive Solutions, and Safe Routes to School principles when constructing or reconstructing transportation facilities.

Directs that copies of the resolution be transmitted to the Michigan Department of Transportation.
