Declares May 2010 as Drinking Water Month in Michigan to promote tap water quality and expand the national Drinking Water Week observance.

Recognizes that municipal tap water supplies safe, reliable drinking water to residents with minimal cost while supporting industry, investment, and job creation.

Notes that the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department treats and pumps 228.49 billion gallons of water annually to 4 million customers, all meeting or exceeding regulatory standards.

Acknowledges Michigan's abundant water resources including nearly 40,000 square miles of lake water, 11,000 inland lakes, and 36,000 miles of rivers and streams.

Encourages citizens to use water wisely and efficiently, protect water quality, learn about local water issues, and recognize the contributions of the Michigan Section of the American Water Works Association and the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department.
