Declares September 2010 as Safe Sleep Awareness Month in Michigan to promote awareness of safe sleep practices and prevent Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS)

Identifies SIDS as the leading cause of death in infants between one month and one year of age, with nearly 8 deaths per 1,000 live births

Outlines seven safe sleep practices for infants: sleeping alone in a crib, on their back, on a firm mattress with tight-fitting sheet, with uncovered face, no smoking exposure, no overheating, and no pillows, blankets, or stuffed animals in sleep area

Encourages Michigan hospitals to instruct all new parents on safe sleep practices to prevent unsafe sleep environments and reduce infant deaths

Directs transmission of a copy of the resolution to Tomorrow's Child in recognition of their efforts to raise awareness of safe sleep practices
