A sole practitioner or group physician on an outpatient basis may supervise no more than 4 physician's assistants, with a maximum of 2 at practice sites where the physician is not physically present.

Physicians employed by or with privileges at health facilities, agencies licensed under article 17, or state correctional facilities may supervise more than 4 physician's assistants at those locations.

Physicians and physician's assistants may organize together in a professional service corporation or professional limited liability company, with supervising physicians required to be shareholders or members in the same entity.

Physician's assistants in professional service corporations or limited liability companies organized before the effective date must disclose on license renewal whether supervising physicians are shareholders or members in the same entity.

The act is contingent on enactment of Senate Bills 27 and 28 of the 95th Legislature and became effective July 19, 2010.
