Board and department may license electricians from other states without examination if those states have equivalent licensing requirements or have executed a reciprocal agreement with Michigan.

Board and department shall make inquiries to existing coalitions of state regulatory agencies and private entities regarding interstate reciprocity agreements and standards.

Department may enter into reciprocal agreements with other states meeting specified standards, with provisions recommended by the board and approved by the department.

Reciprocal agreements require the other state to issue electrician identification cards with expiration dates, verify license status for enforcement, maintain disqualification and revocation standards, and require licenses in good standing.

Department shall post reciprocity information on its website and facilitate communication for Michigan licensees making out-of-state inquiries upon execution of any reciprocal agreement.
