Requires health insurance policies and HMO contracts delivered, issued, or renewed in Michigan to cover screening, diagnosis, and treatment of autism spectrum disorder.

Mandates coverage for speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, psychological services, psychiatric services, and applied behavioral analysis as prescribed by a treating physician or psychologist.

Prohibits insurers from limiting or denying treatment based on it being habilitative in nature and prohibits visit limits on autism spectrum disorder treatment.

Limits insurers and HMOs to requesting treatment reviews no more than once every 6 months, with the insurer bearing the cost of reviews.

Defines "autism spectrum disorder" as pervasive developmental disorders including autistic disorder, Asperger's disorder, and pervasive developmental disorder not otherwise specified, as defined in the most recent Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM).
