Transfers the Michigan Iron Industry Museum Advisory Board from the Department of History, Arts, and Libraries to the Department of State.

The advisory board consists of 11 members: one appointed by the House Speaker, one by the Senate Majority Leader, and nine appointed by the Governor (including representatives from Negaunee, Marquette, Negaunee Township, Marquette County Board of Commissioners, Marquette County Historical Society, the mineral industry, and three at-large citizens with at least one from the Upper Peninsula).

All board members must be registered voters and Michigan residents, with no more than 6 members from the same political party at any time.

Governor-appointed members serve 4-year terms (with initial staggered terms of 2, 3, and 4 years), while legislative appointees serve 2-year terms; members receive up to $75 per day for not more than 24 days per year for up to 2 calendar years.

The advisory board must advise on museum construction and policies, facilitate cooperation between the state and public/private entities, encourage property donations, and promote public use of the museum site.
