School districts not in counties with 750,000+ population must hold regular school board elections beginning March 31, 2011 on the general November election, even-year August election, or odd-year general election (if conditions met).

School districts in counties with 750,000+ population must hold regular school board elections beginning March 31, 2011 on the general November election or odd-year general election (if conditions met).

Odd-year general election option requires that at least one city or community college located in the school district conducts odd-year elections and those entities contain more than 50% of registered electors eligible to vote in the school district election.

School boards must adopt a public resolution by February 28, 2011 (community colleges) or March 31, 2011 (other districts) to choose an election date and file it with the secretary of state and county clerk within 30 days.

Schools that already held elections at the general November election continue that practice; schools currently holding odd-year elections may continue if they adopt a compliant resolution; after March 30, 2011, schools may only change their election date to the general November election.
