County boards of commissioners in Michigan are authorized to establish farmers markets or flea markets within their counties.

County boards of commissioners have control over the farmers market or flea market and may issue regulations for their use and operation.

In counties with an adopted unified form of government under 1973 PA 139, the county executive or county manager has control and regulatory authority over the market instead of the board.

In counties with an adopted charter under 1966 PA 293, the county executive or chief administrative officer has control and regulatory authority over the market instead of the board.

The act became effective immediately upon the Governor's approval on December 11, 2009.
