SB 1307 Summary

• Removes requirement for class B limousine carriers to comply with vehicle-for-hire ordinances in cities with populations of 750,000 or more and eliminates the 30-day effectiveness provision tied to city bond availability.

• Grants exclusive licensing authority to the state Department of Transportation and Department of State for limousines, limo carriers, operators, drivers, and chauffeurs.

• Prohibits counties, cities, villages, townships, and other local government units from licensing limousines, limo carriers, or limousine drivers within their jurisdictions.

• Defines class A limousines as having 7-15 passenger seating capacity (including driver) and class B limousines as having fewer than 7 passenger capacity (including driver).

• Repeals Section 14 of the Limousine Transportation Act (MCL 257.1914).
