Requires child care centers and day care centers to request the Michigan Department of State Police conduct both a state criminal history check and a federal FBI criminal records check on all persons before employment or allowing them to work in any capacity providing child care services.

Requires all job applicants for child care positions to provide written consent and submit fingerprints to the Department of State Police for the criminal history and records checks.

Prohibits child care centers from hiring or continuing employment of any person convicted of a listed offense; currently employed individuals with such convictions must be immediately terminated.

Requires child care centers to conduct the required criminal background checks on all current employees within 1 year of the law's effective date.

Permits child care centers to pass the actual costs of conducting criminal history checks and federal records checks to the employee or job applicant undergoing the checks.
