Senate Bill 1497 Summary

• Changes language from "pursuant to" to "under" in the driver responsibility fee assessment section regarding violations not listed under subsection (2).

• Eliminates the two-notice requirement and automatic license suspension procedure for nonpayment of driver responsibility fees; removes provisions requiring a second notice warning of suspension if payment is not received within 30 days.

• Eliminates the entire subsection (5) that previously allowed drivers to reinstate suspended licenses by establishing an installment payment plan, including provisions for one-time license reinstatement.

• Renumbers remaining subsections (6), (7), (8), and (9) to become subsections (5), (6), (7), and (8) respectively.

• Adds effective date of October 31, 2010 for amendments to section 601d and 626 violations in the driver responsibility fee schedule.
