Designates April 2010 as Michigan Student Athlete Cardiac Awareness Month in response to at least 41 student deaths from sudden cardiac arrest in Michigan since December 1999.

Honors the Kimberly Anne Gillary Foundation, established in April 2000 after a 15-year-old's death during a high school water polo game, which has raised over $1 million and donated more than 500 automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to Michigan high schools.

Urges the State Board of Education to include AED training and regular AED drills in student health education courses and school policies.

Encourages the Michigan High School Athletic Association to implement nationally-applied standards for pre-participation cardiac screening of prospective student athletes.

Notes that approximately 75 percent of Michigan high schools now have at least one AED with trained staff, and documents two lives saved using AEDs donated by the Gillary Foundation.
