Coverage is not subject to visit limits for autism services providers or to dollar limits, copays, deductibles, or coinsurance provisions that do not apply to physical illness generally.

Applied behavior analysis coverage may be subject to a maximum annual benefit of $50,000.

Health care corporations may request treatment reviews consistent with current protocols and require treatment plans, with the cost of reviews borne by the corporation.

Definitions include autism spectrum disorder (autistic disorder, Asperger's disorder, pervasive developmental disorder not otherwise specified), autism services providers (licensed physicians, psychologists, or certified behavior analysts), and covered treatment types (habilitative/rehabilitative care, pharmacy care, psychiatric care, psychological care, and therapeutic care).
