Amends MCL 600.8158 to provide that when a vacancy occurs in the ninety-third district court judge position or the incumbent does not seek reelection, the probate judge for the fifth probate district will serve as judge of the ninety-third district (covering Schoolcraft and Alger counties).

Amends MCL 600.8163 to provide that when a vacancy occurs in the ninety-eighth district court judge position or the incumbent does not seek reelection, the probate judges for Gogebic and Ontonagon counties will each serve as judges of the ninety-eighth district within their respective counties.

Maintains the ninety-third and ninety-eighth districts as first class districts covering their respective counties through the transition periods.

Eliminates the need for separate dedicated district judges in both the ninety-third and ninety-eighth districts by having probate judges assume judicial duties upon vacancy or end of current term.

Effective immediately upon approval by the Governor on February 28, 2012.
