Peace officers may direct vessel operators to stop or maneuver to allow the officer to board, and may request the operator's name, address, and certificate of number.

Vessel operators without a current decal (as described in section 80166a or equivalent from another state) must submit to reasonable inspection of the vessel and its equipment upon officer request.

Peace officers cannot stop and inspect vessels bearing a valid decal unless they have reasonable suspicion the vessel or operator is violating marine law or engaged in criminal activity.

Providing false, forged, fictitious, or misleading information to identify oneself as another person during a marine law violation detention is a misdemeanor.

Peace officers may immediately arrest or issue a written or verbal warning to persons observed committing marine law violations or crimes.
