Appropriates $140,000,000 in general fund dollars for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2012 to the Department of State Police for grants to local law enforcement agencies.

Allocates $70,000,000 for fiscal year 2011-2012 and $70,000,000 for fiscal year 2012-2013.

In fiscal year 2011-2012, $35,000,000 goes to law enforcement agencies in communities under financial review or with financial managers, divided by crime rates and population, with the remaining $35,000,000 dedicated to statewide public safety staff at the Department of State Police's discretion.

Funds are designated as work project appropriations that do not lapse at the end of the fiscal year and remain available for hiring additional police officers, purchasing technology and equipment, and hiring civilian support staff.

All appropriations are subject to the Management and Budget Act, 1984 PA 431.
