Amends Section 55 of the Social Welfare Act to modify county department responsibilities for handling deceased indigent persons.

Changes language requiring counties to "cause to be suitably buried" indigent deceased persons to "suitably dispose of" unclaimed bodies of indigent persons found within the county.

Prohibits county departments from providing or contributing to funeral, burial, or cremation expenses for deceased indigent persons whose bodies are claimed by a person with the right to control disposition.

Updates multiple statutory references and verb tenses throughout Section 55 to modernize language (replacing "shall" with "is" and similar grammatical changes).

Maintains county responsibility for burial/disposal only when no person with legal right to control body disposition has claimed the remains.
