Department of State Police may charge up to $30.00 for taking, processing fingerprints, and completing criminal record checks for employment or licensing purposes until October 1, 2015.

Fee cannot exceed actual costs of fingerprinting and criminal record check, and shall not be collected if another law already requires a fee for the same service.

Licensing bodies or employers are responsible for collecting the fee and forwarding it to state police.

Department of State Police must submit annual written reports to the legislature by October 1 each year detailing whether the fee is sufficient to cover actual fingerprinting costs.

Department may charge $10.00 for name-based criminal record checks until October 1, 2015, but not if another law charges a fee or if the requester is a government agency or nonprofit charitable agency using the internet criminal history access tool (ICHAT).
