Public bodies must provide written notice to elected officials of a municipality before installing video surveillance cameras within that municipality.

Notice must specify the camera location, purpose for installation, camera specifications, intended use of recorded electronic information, and where the information will be sent or stored.

Public bodies that install or maintain video surveillance cameras must make the location where electronic information is sent or stored available for inspection by municipal elected officials.

Defines "public body" to include state agencies, local governments, school districts, special districts, and federal agencies.

Defines "municipality" as a county, city, village, or township in Michigan.
