Requires department investigators and law enforcement officers to electronically record interviews with children conducted at accredited or accreditable child assessment centers in their entirety.

Mandates that electronic recording must begin at the start of the interview and continue without interruption until the interview is completed.

Specifies that electronic recordings must be retained and access granted according to the same procedures established for videorecorded statements under MCL 600.2163a (Michigan Revised Judicature Act of 1961).

Defines "electronically recorded" to mean a videorecorded statement as defined in MCL 600.2163a.

Takes effect only upon enactment of House Bill 5872 and another companion bill (request no. 03470'11), creating a tie-bar requirement between these bills.
