Requires surgical technologists to complete 15 hours of continuing education annually, with national certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting satisfying this requirement.

Mandates surgical facilities that employ, contract with, or grant clinical privileges to surgical technologists maintain documentation proving compliance with continuing education or certification requirements.

Requires surgical facilities to post surgical technologist job openings on the Michigan Talent Bank, the Department of Community Health website, or a similar state-operated job website.

Exempts licensed, registered, or authorized health professionals under Article 15 from these requirements when performing surgical technology tasks within their professional scope of practice.

Takes effect January 1, 2013.
