Changes language in Section 8(1) from "shall have" to "has" to clarify the elevator safety board's current powers and duties.

Replaces references to "Act No. 306 of the Public Acts of 1969" with explicit citation to the Administrative Procedures Act of 1969 (1969 PA 306, MCL 24.201 to 24.328) for rule promulgation authority.

Replaces "persons" with "individuals" in subsection (b) regarding certification of examination candidates.

Changes references to the "Department of Labor" to "Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs" regarding fee collection.

Removes old language referencing the Open Meetings Act of 1976 (PA 267, MCL 15.261 to 15.275) and updates it to reference the current Open Meetings Act (1976 PA 267, MCL 15.231 to 15.246) for board meeting requirements and adds provision allowing special meetings to be called by the chairperson or by written request of at least 3 board members.
