Recall elections must be held on the next regular election date not less than 95 days after the recall petition is filed, with the filing official making a sufficiency determination within 35 days of filing.

Incumbents are automatically deemed candidates for recall elections unless they decline within 10 days of petition filing, and their names appear on the ballot without additional filing.

For nonpartisan offices, candidates must file a nominating petition or pay a $100 nonrefundable fee within 10 days after the filing official calls the recall election.

For partisan offices, political party committees nominate candidates based on office type: state committees for state/U.S. Senate offices, county committees for county offices, and district or local committees for other offices.

Repeals previous sections 966, 970, 971, 973, and 974 of the Michigan election law regarding recall procedures and election timing.
