HB 6088 Summary

• Changes lobbyist reporting from annual and semi-annual filing to two reports per calendar year: one covering the first 6 months (due August 31) and one covering the entire year (due January 31).

• Requires reports to be submitted in writing and signed by the individual submitting, with electronic submission to the Secretary of State in the prescribed manner.

• Specifies that food and beverage expenditures to public officials must be reported if they exceed $25.00 in any month or $150.00 in a calendar year, with exceptions for events with 25+ officials or entire legislative committees/caucuses invited.

• Establishes late filing penalties of $10.00 per day (maximum $300.00 per unfiled report) and makes violation for more than 30 days without good cause a misdemeanor punishable by fine up to $1,000.00.

• Requires the Secretary of State to preserve filed statements and reports for 5 years and make all reports searchable in a public database on the state website.
