Declares May 17, 2012, as Chaldean American Day in the state of Michigan.

Recognizes that 130,000 Chaldeans reside in Michigan, the largest population outside of Iraq, and have established more than 15,000 Chaldean-owned businesses since migrating to America in the 1920s.

Acknowledges that nearly 60 percent of the Chaldean community owns at least one business and that Chaldeans own 80 percent of all food stores in the Detroit area.

Notes the Chaldean Community Foundation provides social services to more than 8,000 people annually through offices in Sterling Heights and Southfield.

Directs that a copy of the resolution be sent to the Chaldean American Chamber of Commerce.
