School districts, intermediate school districts, and public school academies with 100 or more employees in a medical benefit plan must enter a contract requiring either board/director access to claims and cost data at all times, or access within 10 business days of written request.

The requirement applies to medical benefit plans covering 100 or more public employees, including plans established through arrangements under the Public Employee Health Benefits Act (2007 PA 106).

School districts and academies with fewer than 100 employees retain the ability to be policyholders for medical benefit plans without restriction.

"Medical benefit plan" is defined according to section 3 of the Public Employee Health Benefits Act, 2007 PA 106.
