Senate Bill 641 Summary

• Amends MCL 257.224 to require the Secretary of State to offer both a standard design registration plate and an "I Believe" registration plate for vehicle owners.

• Both registration plate types must use a common color scheme, be made of fully reflectorized material, and be clearly visible at night.

• Registration plates and their letters/numerals must be plainly readable from 100 feet during daylight, with expiration dates shown by tabs or stickers.

• Passenger vehicles rented without a driver must receive the same types of registration plates as those issued for private passenger vehicles.

• A person may not operate a vehicle on public highways displaying a registration plate other than the one issued by the Secretary of State, except as provided for nonresidents and plate assignments under existing law.
