Requires students to complete a 1/2-credit course in financial literacy as part of Michigan's merit curriculum math requirements for high school graduation.

Modifies mathematics credit requirements to include completion of algebra I, geometry, and algebra II (or integrated equivalent), plus a 1/2-credit financial literacy course, plus an additional 1/2-credit mathematics course such as trigonometry, statistics, precalculus, calculus, or accounting.

Allows students to fulfill algebra II requirements through department-approved career and technical education programs with embedded mathematics content in fields like electronics, machining, construction, welding, engineering, or renewable energy.

Requires each student to complete at least 1 mathematics course during their final year of high school enrollment.

Applies to students entering grade 8 in 2006 and beyond, with specialty schools meeting specific performance criteria eligible for exemptions from certain English language arts and social science credit requirements.
