Department of Transportation or local road agencies may enter into operating license agreements with regional transit authorities to operate public transit systems on state streets and highways.

Department or local road agencies may designate one or more lanes as dedicated public transit lanes reserved exclusively for regional transit authority vehicles during periods they determine.

Dedicated public transit lanes must remain available at all times for emergency services vehicles.

Dedicated public transit lanes are subject to the same provisions as high-occupancy vehicle lanes under the Michigan Vehicle Code.

Act takes effect March 28, 2013, but only if Senate Bill 909 of the 96th Legislature is also enacted into law.
