Senate Bill 997 Summary

• Reduces mathematics requirement from 4 credits to 2 credits (algebra I and geometry) with requirement for 1 mathematics course in senior year, removing the algebra II mandate

• Reduces science requirement from 3 credits to 2 credits with biology required; encourages but does not mandate additional science credits like chemistry or physics

• Reduces social science requirement from 3 credits to 2 credits including civics, and changes health/physical education from combined 1 credit to separate 1/2 credit each
