Department must develop, adopt, or approve educational materials on concussion nature and risks within 90 days of the effective date.

Department must create an electronic concussion awareness training program within 90 days covering concussion risks, athlete removal criteria, and dangers of unreported concussions.

Department shall make educational materials and training program available on its website to school personnel, coaches, parents, students, athletes, and the general public.

Defines "concussion" as a type of traumatic brain injury recognized by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that may cause changes in mental status and can result from falls, blows to the head, or acceleration/deceleration injuries.

Act is contingent upon enactment of House Bill No. 5697 of the 96th Legislature and becomes effective 91 days after final adjournment of the 2012 Regular Session.
