Requires courts to mandate electronic monitoring devices for felony convicts released for work or school under existing release provisions.

Electronic monitoring must use global positioning satellite system or alternative technology to track individual movement and location at all times during release.

Device must be ankle-worn, approved by the court, and capable of detecting tampering or removal with notification to county sheriff.

County sheriff records and monitors device data to ensure compliance with work release requirements.

Individual bears all costs for installation, maintenance, monitoring, and removal of the electronic monitoring device.

Only applies if the court has an existing electronic monitoring program for probationers that meets these requirements.

Effective March 28, 2013, contingent on enactment of Senate Bill 1127.
