SB-1316 Summary

• Amends the Public Health Code to revise supervision requirements for physician's assistants by physicians in solo or group practices treating outpatient patients.

• Limits solo practitioners and group practice physicians to supervising no more than 4 physician's assistants, with only 2 allowed under remote supervision at multiple practice sites.

• Allows physicians employed by health facilities, agencies licensed under Article 17, or state correctional facilities to supervise more than 4 physician's assistants at those facilities.

• Establishes requirements for professional service corporations and professional limited liability companies organized by physicians and physician's assistants, requiring supervising physicians to be shareholders or members in the same entity organized on or after July 19, 2010.

• Requires physician's assistants to disclose on licensure renewal forms whether they are shareholders in professional corporations or members in professional limited liability companies organized before July 19, 2010, and to identify their supervising physician.
