Requests Congress and the U.S. Department of Transportation approve a federal TIGER grant for reconfiguring the I-275 and Ford Road interchange in Canton Township, Michigan.

Ford Road between Lilly Road and Ikea Drive experienced 248 traffic accidents in 2008 and carries up to 50,000 vehicles daily, identified as one of the most accident-prone locations in Southeast Michigan.

Federal grant would provide $20.3 million to reconfigure the interchange to reduce congestion delays, lower accident rates, and decrease southbound I-275 backups.

Project is projected to generate an average of 216 jobs per year in construction, reduce vehicle hours traveled by 10 percent, lower emissions, and encourage economic development including green energy companies.

Directs transmission of resolution copies to the President of the U.S. Senate, Speaker of the House, Michigan congressional delegation members, and the U.S. Department of Transportation.
