Hospitals using a charge description master must post an electronic copy on their website, or provide a written or electronic copy at the hospital location if no website exists.

Hospitals must post clear and conspicuous notices in emergency departments, admissions offices, and billing offices informing patients that the charge description master is available.

Hospitals are prohibited from entering into contracts that would prevent disclosure of their charge description master as required by this section.

Any person may file a complaint with the department, which may impose administrative fines up to $1,000 per day for violations.

Defines "charge description master" as a uniform schedule of charges representing the hospital's gross billed charge for a given service or item, regardless of payer type, effective 1 year after enactment.
