MI HB5326

Prohibits individuals licensed to carry concealed pistols from carrying them on school property, child care facilities, sports arenas/stadiums, bars/taverns where alcohol sales are primary income, places of worship, entertainment facilities with 2,500+ seating capacity, hospitals, and college/university dormitories or classrooms.

Exempts parents or legal guardians from the school property restriction while dropping off or picking up students in vehicles, and allows business owners/employees to carry in bars regardless of the prohibition.

Provides exceptions to the restrictions for retired police/law enforcement officers, security personnel, private investigators, corrections officers, state police officers, sheriff's posse members, auxiliary/reserve officers, probation/parole officers, state court judges, and court officers.

Establishes penalties for violations: first offense is a civil infraction with up to $500 fine and 6-month license suspension; second offense is a misdemeanor with up to $1,000 fine and license revocation; third or subsequent offense is a felony with up to 4 years imprisonment or $5,000 fine and license revocation.

Bill effectiveness is conditioned on enactment of related companion bills (HB 5324, 5325, 5327, 5328, 5329, HB 4155, and SB 49).
