Amends the definition of "nursing home" in the Public Health Code to clarify that medical treatment includes services provided by employees or independent contractors licensed under health profession parts 170 or 175.

Reorganizes exclusions from the nursing home definition to explicitly list state correctional facilities, hospitals, veterans facilities, hospice residences, and certified hospices as separate subsections.

Allows nursing homes, regardless of their legal entity status, to employ or contract with licensed health professionals to provide planned and continuing nursing care and medical treatment, including direct clinical services to patients.

Updates nursing care requirements to use "patients" instead of "individuals" and "nursing care and medical treatment" instead of "medical care" throughout the statute.

Removes an expired provision from December 31, 1979 that previously distinguished between skilled and intermediate care facility staffing requirements.
