School districts and public school academies must include at least 6 hours each school year of age-appropriate instruction about genocides, including the Holocaust, in social studies curriculum for grades 8-12.

Instruction on genocides may be offered in other subject areas and counted toward meeting the 6-hour requirement if included in multiple subjects.

State board recommended model core academic curriculum standards for history in grades 8-12 must include learning objectives concerning genocides, including the Holocaust.

Michigan merit examination social studies component and Michigan educational assessment program assessments for social studies must include questions related to learning objectives about genocides, including the Holocaust, beginning with assessments in the 2015-2016 school year.

School districts must provide core academic curriculum in compliance with state board recommended model standards in math, science, reading, history, geography, economics, American government, and writing.
