School districts must provide kindergarten with a full school day length matching other elementary grades.

Kindergarten enrollment eligibility changes progressively: age 5 by November 1, 2013 for 2013-2014 school year; age 5 by October 1, 2014 for 2014-2015 school year; age 5 by September 1 for 2015-2016 school year and beyond.

Parents may enroll children who will turn 5 by December 1 of the school year if written notice is provided to the school district by June 1 (or August 1 if becoming a resident after June 1), though schools may recommend against early enrollment.

Compulsory school attendance age lowered from age 6 to age 5, requiring children to attend until their sixteenth birthday (or eighteenth birthday for certain cohorts born after December 1, 2009).

Schools must notify the state department by December 31 of each school year of the number of children enrolled under early kindergarten enrollment provisions.
