Establishes mandatory classroom training requirements for security guards under the Occupational Code by adding section 1440 to 1980 PA 299.

Requires minimum 6 hours of company and position orientation covering uniform requirements, limits of authority, legal aspects of force and arrest, emergency contacts, organizational structure, courtesy, and report writing.

Requires minimum 8 hours of defensive tactics training including self-defense, restraint device use, pressure point training, substance abuse and mental illness detection, and verbal and sensitivity training.

Requires minimum 2 hours of emergency preparedness training covering medical emergencies, first aid, CPR, crowd control, fire safety, bomb threats, searches, weather emergencies, chemical spills, and evacuation procedures.

Mandates security guard licensees maintain and provide training completion records to the department upon request; takes effect 90 days after enactment, contingent on passage of HB 5829 and SB 983.
