MI HB5840

Amends MCL 333.16221 to add new grounds for disciplinary action against health professionals, including convictions for criminal offenses under Michigan Penal Code sections 83, 84, 316, 317, 321, 520b, 520c, 520d, and 520f (covering assault, battery, and sexual assault offenses).

Requires the department to investigate allegations that grounds for disciplinary action exist and provide administrative complaints to the appropriate disciplinary subcommittee.

Establishes that certified copies of court records are conclusive evidence of conviction for the newly added criminal offenses.

Effective date: March 30, 2015, contingent upon enactment of HB 5839, HB 5841, and HB 5842 by the 97th Legislature.

Amends the existing disciplinary grounds under section 16221 without substantively changing the investigation and hearing procedures already in place.
